The NBA Finals have come to a close, and the offseason is upon us. Despite losing LeBron James for his ninth consecutive time in the finals, Stephen Curry still led all players with 27 points per game across both series on 54% shooting from three-point range. The Warriors are now favorites to win their third championship in five seasons this upcoming season due to the influx of new talent that joined them over the summer.

This season’s MVP battle is heating up, as a few players have established themselves as the top talents in the world right now. While other players have disappointed, such as James Harden and Anthony Davis, it seems that NBA rule changes have had an impact on them. Because of their inconsistency, Harden and Davis aren’t in the MVP competition this season, and even Damian Lillard and Trae Young haven’t been as efficient as they have been in previous seasons. Naturally, Kyrie Irving’s absence from the NBA has had a negative impact.
Despite the troubles of some of these superstars, other players are living up to or beyond their position as tremendous talents. Montrezl Harrell, a bench player for the Washington Wizards, has shocked many with his solid performance, averaging 16.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. However, the stars in the bottom ten have been outstanding all season, setting themselves apart from the rest of the league. Here are the new MVP power rankings, without further ado.
Paul George is number ten.

As Kawhi Leonard recovers from a catastrophic injury, Paul George was anticipated to be in the MVP debate. Zach LaVine is the franchise cornerstone for the Chicago Bulls, who are one of the top teams in the NBA. Chicago is presently the Eastern Conference’s second seed, behind only the Brooklyn Nets for the top spot. The two-time Dunk Contest winner is enjoying another All-Star season, and if he can lead the Bulls to a top-two seed in the Eastern Conference, he’ll be a front-runner for MVP all season.
Playing with DeMar DeRozan will, however, detract from LaVine’s MVP chances during the season. While Zach would be the first to concede that individual honors pale in comparison to winning an NBA championship, it would be wonderful for the 26-year-old to be included in MVP discussions due to his outstanding offensive performance.
Luka Doncic (#8)

Dallas has yet to scare anybody, so Luka’s MVP odds aren’t as good as they should be. Luka has a case for being a top-5 contender in terms of player value. Without him, the Mavericks are unlikely to make the playoffs and will likely be sent to the lottery. After all, Luka is expected to do practically everything on the court for the Mavericks, from scoring to creating for others.
As expected, Doncic is putting up MVP-caliber statistics, and he has the Mavericks above.500 in the Western Conference and in the top five seeds. It seems like Dallas has had enough of being bounced in the first round, and Luka will do all in his power to assist his club climb the rankings. Kristaps Porzingis has yet to return to superstar form for the Mavericks, but it seems like his days with the New York Knicks are finished, which might affect Dallas’ playoff prospects.
Jimmy Butler (#7)

Butler has had a huge influence on the Eastern Conference, and Miami is presently in third place, with a potential to win the East in the near future. While the Bulls have acquired players like Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso this season, DeRozan has been the team’s greatest player, and his stats reflect that. DeMar is clearly seeking the recognition he believes he deserves as a true star in the game, and as a consequence, he is in the MVP debate.

The Serbian superstar is at the heart of everything Denver does, and his comeback Friday night against a championship contender demonstrated just how important he is. Nikola can operate in the post with little space and has the ability to drain contested shots over defenders. He’s not letting anything stand in the way of his taking over games, whether it’s double-teams or referee technical fouls. In a nutshell, Steph is on fire, and it’s incredible to see.
With an 18-2 record and a seven-game winning run, the superstar point guard has the Golden State Warriors on top of the league. The Warriors are playing with unequaled confidence right now because to Curry’s status as a scorer and a leader. Even more incredible is the fact that Klay Thompson isn’t even on the floor, implying that Steph is doing it all by himself with the support of Draymond Green and a slew of hard-nosed secondary players.
