Electronic Arts has been working on a new title called “It’s”. The company is currently exploring the idea of renaming it so EA can avoid trademark issues. If they do rename, what might be the potential backlash from users?
Electronic Arts is “exploring the idea of renaming” Its to “Its”. The company has seen a significant drop in its stock price since the announcement.
Electronic Arts has said that it is contemplating rebranding its annual football games in the future. The announcement comes on the heels of FIFA 22’s “record-breaking” debut, which has already attracted 9.1 million players.
Since the release of FIFA 22 earlier this month, 7.6 million Ultimate Team teams have been formed and 460 million matches have been played, with the publisher promising that there will be plenty more throughout the duration of the current season.
“We’re here to provide football fans across the world the greatest experiences possible. To accomplish so, we begin by paying attention to our athletes “Cam Weber, the GM of EA Sports Group, said.
“Growing the global community, developing creative football experiences through new platforms, a dedication to every level of the sport, including grassroots, and speeding the elevation of the women’s game are all things we hear often. As a consequence, we have a clear picture of football’s future.”
Weber goes on to say that authenticity is important to the FIFA experience, which is why the publisher has spent time cultivating partnerships with “over 300 individual licensed partners” who provide access to “17,000+ players across 700+ clubs, 100 stadiums, and over 30 leagues across the globe.”
The publisher didn’t explain why their football games could be renamed in the future, but did say that the process included “reviewing our naming rights deal with FIFA, which is distinct from all of our other official relationships and licenses throughout the football globe.”
FIFA 22 is now available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Xbox One S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia.
